MEET MATT
Mr. Acosta joined the Houston Office as an Associate in March 2021. His primary practice is representing school districts in special education, disability law, and matters involving student rights and discipline.
Mr. Acosta graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Edward’s University in 2006. Mr. Acosta graduated from Texas State University as a Specialist in School Psychology in 2010. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2019.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Acosta worked in public education as a special education teacher, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, and special education administrator for a large urban school district. While in law school, Mr. Acosta interned with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the Oklahoma City Public Schools Legal Services Department. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Acosta served as a Gallogly Family Foundation Public Interest Fellow providing education advocacy and legal services to justice-involved youth.
Mr. Acosta is a member of the Houston Bar Association, Houston Young Lawyers Association, and the Hispanic National Bar Association.
